Edition 2021 \/ 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first full edition of the project consisted of several stages. At the end of 2021, we held an open call for projects. From 26 submissions, 12 were shortlisted and 8 were selected to take part in a 5 day master class with French director and circus artist Lucio Smit. The next stages of the project were completed in 2022.<\/p>\n

Between 22-24 April, the Academic Cultural Centre “Chatka \u017baka” hosted 8 acts who presented 20-minute excerpts of their contest entries in a “Work-in-progress” format. Audience members voted on the performances, and there was an open discussion between critics and the public about the shows.<\/p>\n

On May 12, we announced the results of the contest and presented the winning projects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The Trick” by Wojciech Rotowski and Roman S\u0142omka (Grand Prix)
\n“Ex-Libris” by Marta M\u0105dry
\n“Shhh…” by Tomasz Piotrowski.<\/p>\n

Honourable mentions were given to: “The Mechanics” by ALE Circus Dance Company and “Hey, Neighbour?!”<\/span> by the duo Fantasmagorie.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the project’s partners presented their own awards:<\/p>\n

New Circus Centre – FAMA Library and Cultural Center in Wroc\u0142aw: art residence for Marta M\u0105dry’s “Ex-libris;
\nKolekty “Kejos” from Wroc\u0142aw: professional support for Marta M\u0105dry’s “Ex-Libris”
\nTeatr Rampa from Warsaw – residence and professional support for Kolektyw INC’s “The wedding went on until 3:33”<\/p>\n

The winning and honorable mention shows presented their finished versions at Carnaval Sztukmistrz\u00f3w, 28-30 July. “Ex-libris” and “Shh…” had their official premieres at the festival. In total, ten performances from “The Polish Incident” were featured at the festival.<\/p>\n

The grand finale of The Polish Incident’s project in 2022 was the world premiere of the Grand Prix show, “The Trick”, which was held on 3 December.<\/p>\n<\/div>
