The Polish Incident

The Polish Incident 2025 took the form of an experimental circus lab masterclass led by Sébastien Wojdan of the renowned French collective Galapiat Cirque. The “Circus LAB” workshops spanned five days, from March 10 to 14, 2025, bringing together a group of ten circus artists. For five hours each day, participants immersed themselves in movement, expression, and stage presence, turning the encounter into a space of intense physical exertion and creative experimentation.

Exploration and Technique

Participants explored the boundaries of balance and falling, embracing physical risk and working deeply with both the body and various props. The sessions focused on discovering the authenticity of gesture within stage performance. To test how different objects can spark movement and narrative, the group worked with a mix of everyday and unconventional items—ranging from chairs and poles to eggs and axes.

Creative Philosophy

The workshop atmosphere encouraged a balance between individual discovery and collective collaboration. The guiding motto for the event was: “Dare to disturb, dare to make a mess.”

The Outcome

The masterclass with Sébastien Wojdan proved to be a transformative experience, where physical exhaustion was matched by the discovery of new artistic paths and the courage to push personal boundaries. The laboratory culminated in a nearly hour-long open showcase, where participants presented the results of their intensive work to a live audience.
