Unpacking modern masculinity: BoCirk’s “Summer Heat – OnTestosterOn” heats up our festival!
What are men ashamed of? What remains unspoken? And what do they truly long to change — in themselves and in the world around them? These provocative questions lie at the heart of Summer Heat – OnTestosterOn, a bold, high-octane performance by the Czech troupe BoCirk, coming to Lublin’s Carnaval Sztukmistrzów from July 24–27.
About the Show
This adrenaline-fuelled spectacle fuses physical theatre, dance, contemporary circus — and yes, even roaring go-karts — into a show that hits hard and refuses to play nice. BoCirk pairs jaw-dropping acrobatics with sharp, unflinching social commentary, inviting the audience to stare straight into the heart of what modern men are told to be — and what they’re afraid to become.
Through handstands, expressive movement, and rule-breaking choreography, the performers pull us into a tightly wound, high-stakes journey — a collision of strength and fragility that lays bare the contradictions of masculinity today.
Summer Heat – OnTestosterOn dares to ask:
What does it really mean to be a man in 2025?
Are men still expected to crave fast cars, curse loudly, watch porn, and throw punches to prove their worth? And more importantly — can they talk about it, without shame or bravado?
This is a show that doesn’t flinch. It hooks you with raw energy, provokes with intent, and leaves you thinking long after the lights go down. For men and women alike, it’s an invitation to challenge everything we thought we knew about strength, vulnerability, and identity.
This isn’t just entertainment — it’s a reckoning.
Step into the maze of male dilemmas, and let yourself be moved.
The performance will be presented twice — on July 24 and 25 — at Litewski Sq.
Admission is free.
About BoCirk Company
Since 2006, this bold Czech collective has been tearing down the walls between circus and street theatre with original shows that mix acrobatics, dance and theatre. Known for their immersive, high-energy performances that connect with wide audiences — including families — BoCirk also brings their talent to communities through social projects and inclusive programming.
Their work extends beyond the stage: they run circus workshops for individuals with intellectual disabilities, offer educational and play-based programmes that nurture creativity and physical development in children.
Free programme
Summer Heat – OnTestosterOn is part of the free outdoor performance programme — a vibrant lineup that also includes Épiphytes, a dreamlike spectacle from the Belgian collective La Cie des Chaussons Rouges.
This is not just a performance — it’s an invitation into a forest that is both real and imagined. The air is thick with the presence of wild nature: creeping vines, soft mosses, hidden mushrooms, and whispering reeds. Amid this living landscape, the artists move across a suspended metal structure like epiphytes — plants that root not in soil, but in air and moisture, drawing life from the atmosphere itself. Their bodies become extensions of this strange ecosystem, animating the metal frame with movement and breath. They twist, hang, and sway in a delicate dance of coexistence — like plants in silent symbiosis, holding one another up. With Épiphytes, La Cie des Chaussons Rouges blurs the line between nature and body, structure and spirit. It’s a gentle call to all — even those who rarely step into a theatre — to pause, to feel, and to rediscover the world through movement, sensation, and shared presence.
TICKETED SHOWS
A quick reminder: ticket sales are underway for our paid performances! You can purchase tickets via our website or through the Stage24.pl platform.
Presale runs until June 30.
Among the ticketed shows is Julieta by Mexican artist Gabriela Muñoz — a wild, wordless tale of an aging woman navigating life with a suitcase full of experiences and quirks. The show was inspired by the life of Muñoz’s great-aunt and is as touching as it is delightfully absurd.
Also featured is Winter by the group My!Laika — a genre-defying spectacle drawing from literature, film, and music. This extraordinary performance breaks every rule in the book. Its stories reflect not only on death and the fleeting joy of the moment, but also on the quiet tragedy of characters overwhelmed by global crises.
The festival will also welcome Art For Rainy Days and Teatronas — two companies that will challenge and expand how we perceive contemporary circus.
Art For Rainy Days will present the hypnotic How Spiral Works — a stunning blend of aerial acrobatics, dance, and traditional music from the Baltic region.
Teatronas invites us into a theatrical-circus essay that explores our deep-rooted fear of death.
We’ll also see No Yes You by the Kejos Collective, winner of the Polish Incident open call for a Polish production. This honest, emotionally charged performance doesn’t shy away from difficult themes — tackling failure, fear of judgment, and the struggle with one’s own limitations.
