And guess what? You get to help decide who’s the funniest, most engaging, and totally wins your heart. How? Drop a coin or two in their hat. Or cast your vote online for your favourite!
What’s a Busker?
A busker is a self-sufficient street artist who transforms everyday sidewalks into magical stages. With just a suitcase of props, a hat, and pure talent, they entertain passersby, win over crowds, and make a living—one spontaneous show at a time. And that humble hat? It’s more than just a tip jar. In the world of busking, your hat is your fee—a symbol of trust, connection, and the art of performing in the moment.
For years now, Carnaval audiences have enthusiastically embraced these open-air performances—cheering, applauding, and dropping coins of appreciation into hats. This year, the busker contest features five solo shows and two duo acts.

It’s the perfect excuse to take a break from the everyday and dive into the joy of live art, right in the heart of the city.
This year’s artists:
Andrej Tomse – Get The Hat | Słowenia
The stage is set, the audience awaits… but wait! Our charming street performer is in a pickle. His iconic hat, a crucial prop and symbol of his craft, has decided to go on an unplanned aerial adventure, landing in an impossible, sky-high perch. What ensues is a side-splitting spectacle as our busker, in a desperate (and increasingly clumsy) bid to retrieve it, inadvertently transforms into the ultimate accidental clown. Can a simple rope, a repurposed coat rack, and the unexpected help of some strong-armed volunteers orchestrate a triumphant, hat-recovering grand finale?

Menzo Menjunjes | Clown Show (ARG)
Hold onto your hats—Menzo Menjunjes’ Clown Show is rolling in from Argentina, and it’s pure comedic chaos in the best way! A mischievous, high-energy whirlwind, Menzo is a clown with a rebellious streak, unleashing wild dances and brilliantly improvised mayhem. He invites the audience to dive headfirst into the fun as he flips everyday life into a delightfully absurd, laugh-out-loud spectacle.
With his gift for engaging the crowd, Menzo creates an infectious atmosphere of celebration where everyone feels part of the show.
This unforgettable act has already wowed audiences at over 70 international street, theatre, and circus festivals across more than 25 countries.
And here’s the heartwarming twist: Menzo’s grandfather was born near Białystok, making this performance a joyful, symbolic return to his Polish roots.

To vote for your favourite busker or duo, simply fill out the online form available on our website. Voting opens on 24 July, right when the first competition performance begins.
The winner of the busker competition will take home a prize of 3000 PLN.

To vote for your favourite busker or duo, simply fill out the online form available on our website. Voting opens on 24 July, right when the first competition performance begins.
The winner of the busker competition will take home a prize of 3000 PLN.
