Carnaval Sztukmistrzów 2022. Urban Highline Festival returns!
Carnaval Sztukmistrzów takes place in Lublin throughout the final weekend of July (July 28–31 2022). Carnaval’s many attractions will be further boosted by the return of the Urban Highline Festival, allowing the public to experience breathtaking aerial walks in the Old Town and the City Centre.
About the Event
Urban Highline Festival will once again draw to Lublin daring slackliners. Urban Highline Festival is the oldest highline festival in Europe, and the largest official highline festival in the world taking place in the urban space. This international event has been held in Lublin since 2009 and thus far has drawn to the city thousands of highliners from over 50 countries. The spectators watch these daredevils walk on lines stretched high above Lublin’s busy streets. However, for the international participants, Urban Highline is more than that. It’s an annual festival of enthusiasts of slacklining, when they share their passion, skills, and experience.
.According to Marceli Wydra from the “Firmament” Foundation, the primary organiser of UHF, “Many of our participants start their highlining journey in Lublin, among others because of the friendly atmosphere and the high safety standards we have developed. And this year, we especially welcome daredevils from Ukraine.”
“This remarkable event that blurs the lines between art and extreme sports has cemented itself in the cultural landscape of summertime Lublin. We’re glad that we can collaborate once more because it’s also an integral part of Carnaval Sztukmistrzów”, says Carnaval coordinator Iwona Kornet from Workshops of Culture.
This year, we will be able to admire aerial walks between Thursday and Sunday in the Old Town by the Crown Tribunal, Łokietka Square and the Trinity Tower, and in the area by the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures. Slackliners who want to take active part in the event, may register at wwww.urbanhighline.pl. Moreover, on Saturday (30 July) UHF’s organisers are hosting an extraordinary evening of slacklining-related films inside the Lublin conference centre.
You can still buy tickets for paid shows with a limited number of available seats. You can buy tickets via Going.pl. Make sure to hurry, some shows have already sold out.
The rich and varied programme also features free street shows, as usual taking place outdoors in the streets of Lublin, concerts, a food truck zone, AeriaLove Workshops in Błonia near the Castle and the Festival club “Juggler Bar”. Set up to spread joy, the festival club is a welcoming place for every visitor and a place providing artistic sustenance. You can rest here during the day before exploring the festival’s attractions, and after sunset enjoy dancing and barroom acrobatics.
