Edition 2020

The first edition of the project was held during the Covid-19 pandemic. Artists participating in the project were selected from submissions to Carnaval Sztukmistrzów’s outdoor circus shows, which we had launched before the start of the pandemic, at the beginning of 2020.

Among the 19 submissions we received, we picked two winners: “H2Ooops” by Tres de la nada and Kamil Żongler’s  “Veggie”. Out of the remaining 17 ideas, we picked another five projects that we deemed the most creative and feasible to produce. The two others were unproduced ideas from 2019.

In total, the first review of contemporary Polish circus art featured 10 shows, including the two winners.

These shows were: Ale Circus Dance Company’s “VII”, Marcin Lipski and Miłosz Budka’s “The Kings of Entertainment”, AntiRabbity’s “Rabbit in HumanLand”, Marcin Lipski’s “House of Lego”, Wrzące Ciała’s “Death and Laughter”, Kolektyw Kejos’s “The Fool’s Epitaph” and Warszawski Cyrk Magii i Ściemy’s “The Lion Man”.

The artists had the chance to confront their work with that of other artists, while the public were presented with an overview of the most notable titles of the contemporary Polish circus scene.
